REGISTRY AND SYSTEM CHANGES
===========================

This document lists every registry change made by the public beta commands.
Unrelated personal shell customizations are outside the scope of this package.

Required Task Pane registration
-------------------------------
The installer registers XPExplorerInProcessTest.dll with regsvr32. The
component uses this CLSID:

  {6B44C1E7-2E87-4F93-A0F2-7D8E91A8D521}

The registered DLL path points to:

  C:\Program Files\XP Task Pane for File Explorer\XPExplorerInProcessTest.dll

The uninstaller calls regsvr32 /u against that DLL.

Explorer pane width
-------------------
The installer creates:

  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Explorer Bars\
  {6B44C1E7-2E87-4F93-A0F2-7D8E91A8D521}

Value:

  BarSize = CD 00 00 00 01 00 00 00

This corresponds to the tuned 205-pixel XP Task Pane width.

Startup helpers
---------------
Under:

  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

The installer creates:

  XP Task Pane Window Watcher
  XP Drive Title Center

Both values point to the installed copies under Program Files. The uninstaller
removes both values.

Task Pane settings
------------------
The pane stores settings under:

  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\XP Explorer Task Pane

The installer creates clean defaults only when a value does not already exist:

  AutoShow = 1
  RememberNavigation = 1
  NavigationPreferred = 0
  AllowBothPanes = 0
  ShowRoverSearch = 0
  MyWebsite = blank
  MyEmail = blank
  SoulseekPath = blank

The public package contains none of the developer's previous URLs, email
values, Soulseek path, window handles, audio data, or per-window cached task
modes.

Optional exact-XP drive appearance
----------------------------------
"2 - Apply XP Drive Appearance.cmd" changes:

  HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Drive

Value:

  TileInfo = prop:

This suppresses the modern free-space and filesystem metadata shown beneath
drive and removable-media titles in My Computer. It is the registry tweak that
made the final XP drive layout possible.

Before changing it, the command records whether the per-user TileInfo value
existed and what it contained. The backup is stored at:

  %LOCALAPPDATA%\XP Task Pane for File Explorer\Backups\
  DriveTileInfo-before.json

"Restore Windows Drive Appearance.cmd" restores that captured state. If no
backup exists, it removes the per-user TileInfo override so Windows inherits
its normal system value.

Files and logs
--------------
Installed application:

  C:\Program Files\XP Task Pane for File Explorer

Installer logs and prior-install backups:

  C:\ProgramData\XP Task Pane for File Explorer

Per-user drive appearance backup:

  %LOCALAPPDATA%\XP Task Pane for File Explorer
